Sugar and carbohydrates raise blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels are a sign that you are eating too many carbs, too often.
High blood sugar levels are damaging to the brain and organs so the excess sugar is converted into fat and stored out of harm’s way around the organs and under the skin.
Keeping your blood sugar level within normal range will prevent weight gain and allow your body to burn stored fat for energy.
1 in 3 adults in the UK have blood sugar levels which are higher than normal ie pre-diabetic, making weight gain easy and weight loss difficult.
How to use a blood sugar monitor
Test your blood on waking and before and after meals. If your blood sugar is too high, identify the carbohydrate in your meal which caused the rise, and reduce the portion or cut it out next time.
